Club Code of Conduct

Our club is committed to maintaining a welcoming, respectful and safe environment for everyone.

Respect our staff. Respect each other. Respect our club.

1. Respect for Staff and Volunteers

The club operates a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of staff, volunteers and committee members. Verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, bullying, harassment and aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

2. Respect for Members and Visitors

Everyone attending the club must treat others with courtesy, dignity and respect. Discrimination, harassment and threatening behaviour are unacceptable.

3. Illegal Drugs

The possession, use, supply or distribution of illegal drugs on club premises is strictly prohibited.

Anyone found using illegal drugs on club premises will be subject to an immediate ban and the incident will be reported to the police. Any continuing exclusion will be handled in accordance with the club's constitution and applicable procedures.

4. Responsible Behaviour

Drunken, disorderly, threatening or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. Staff may refuse service where appropriate and in accordance with licensing requirements.

5. Club Property

Members and visitors must respect club property, equipment and facilities. Deliberate damage, theft or vandalism may result in disciplinary action or referral to the police.

6. Children, Families and Safeguarding

6.1 Safeguarding Commitment

Watlington Sports & Social Club is committed to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. All members, visitors, staff, volunteers and committee members are expected to act appropriately and help protect the welfare of others.

6.2 Parental and Guardian Responsibility

Parents and guardians remain wholly responsible for the supervision, safety and behaviour of children in their care whilst on club premises.

Children must not be left unattended without appropriate supervision.

6.3 Appropriate Behaviour

All children, young people and vulnerable adults must be treated with dignity, kindness and respect.

Bullying, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, abuse or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.

6.4 Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

Any safeguarding concern, allegation or suspected inappropriate behaviour must be reported promptly to a member of club staff or an appropriate club committee officer.

Where a concern involves a particular member of staff or committee officer, or reporting to that individual would be inappropriate, the matter should be raised with another member of staff or committee officer who is not involved.

Safeguarding concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly. Where necessary, matters will be referred to the appropriate statutory authorities.

6.5 Confidentiality and Information Sharing

Safeguarding information will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

Information will only be shared with individuals or authorities who need it to protect those involved, investigate concerns appropriately or fulfil legal obligations.

Confidentiality must not prevent necessary safeguarding action.

6.6 Immediate Danger or Emergencies

Where a child, young person or vulnerable adult is believed to be in immediate danger, emergency services must be contacted without delay.

Protecting individuals from harm takes priority over routine club reporting procedures.

6.7 Committee Responsibilities

The club committee is responsible for establishing, maintaining and reviewing appropriate safeguarding arrangements.

These arrangements should reflect the activities undertaken at the club, particularly events involving children, young people and vulnerable adults.

All safeguarding concerns must be addressed fairly, sensitively and in accordance with applicable safeguarding requirements.

7. Health and Safety

Everyone must follow reasonable safety instructions, keep emergency exits clear and report hazards or unsafe conditions.

8. Respect for Our Community

Please respect our neighbours by keeping noise to a reasonable level, parking considerately and disposing of litter responsibly.

9. Complaints and Suggestions

The club welcomes constructive feedback. Complaints will be handled sensitively and shared only where necessary for a fair investigation, safeguarding or legal obligations.

10. Breaches of the Code

Breaches may result in warnings, refusal of service, removal from the premises, disciplinary proceedings or referral to the police. Formal suspensions and exclusions will be handled in accordance with the club's constitution.

Formal complaints will be handled confidentially, subject to information sharing necessary for a fair investigation, safeguarding or legal obligations.

Complaints will be reviewed by authorised committee officers who are not personally involved in the matter.
